Parks and Beaches

This area boasts a wide variety of beautiful parks. I have included local Shoreline and Edmonds parks and open spaces, but also some parks and beaches as far away as Seattle. Check below for some of my favorites, and feel free to add your own favorites.

City of Shoreline Recreation Programs
  • The Edmonds Underwater Park is located just north of the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry Landing at the foot of Main Street. The park includes more than 27 acres of tide and bottom lands of which approximately half have been developed with features and trails specifically for divers.

    Yost Park is open to the public from dawn to dusk, year round. Check for swimming pool hours and dates of operation (425) 771-0230.
    Yost Park today contains one of the few areas of native vegetation that remain in Edmonds. The mixed stands of Western red cedar, red alder, bigleaf maple and western hemlock trees offer a glimpse into the past, and in the future.

  • This marsh hosts an astonishing 225 species of birds during the course of the year. The City of Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department invites everyone to come and visit this hidden gem along our waterfront. The Interpretive Walkway is located south of Harbor Square at Dayton Street, west of State Route 104. Look for the signs.

  • Located at the foot of Main Street on both the north and south sides of the ferry terminal, this park offers spectacular views of the snowcapped Olympic Mountains and the waters of Puget Sound. The park includes picnic areas, interpretive information, public restrooms and showers. Paths run out to a jetty.

    In 1980, this historic site was declared a marine sanctuary.

    Located at 700 Main Street in downtown Edmonds, the Frances Anderson Center is the home of the City's Parks and Recreation Department. The Center is also the site for many activities and events, and houses a number of local classes and organizations. Here you can find fitness classes, cultural arts, recreation and sports programs, and community meeting space. It is also home to a professional ballet school, preschool, pottery school, martial arts training, day care, and a youth club. Anderson Center is the site of the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum and annual Edmonds Arts Festival.
    Hours of Operation: The Recreation Office at the Anderson Center is open from 8 am to 10 pm, Monday through Friday, and 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday.
  • Olympic Beach & Fishing Pier located at Railroad Avenue and Dayton Street is dedicated to the area's many Olympic champions. The fishing pier was the first public saltwater fishing pier in the state and is open year around.
